Mark Evans Band
Mark Evans Band played their last official show December 11, 2021 at Steel City. Since then they've popped up for the occaional benefit but are currently “on extended hiatus”.
Their 2018 debut release “Carousel” was critically acclaim. With its strong hooks, driving guitars, solid bottom, pristine vocals, “Beatlesque” stings and 1960's horns, the album was an instant hit with lovers of Power Pop and all thing 1965-1972. The band’s sound offers both a look back to a time when records were crafted with passionate abandon, and a look forward to what is still possible.
2019 saw Carousel reissued on vinyl and the band opening dates for international touring acts including Denny Laine and Micky Dolenz. Covid brought that trai to a stop, but the band kept recording and released “The Beautician” as a single the last week of 2020. After playing extensively for a year and a half, the band's sound had transformed to include a more vibrantly raw vibe with overtones of early J Geils jamming with mid-era Stones and Matthew Sweet. The band had enough new material in the can for a 5-song EP, but since the untimely November 2022death of lead guitarist and friend Rick Toy the nearly completely mixed new material has been collecting dust at Chews Landing Studio, waiting…
Roy Fisher, Jeff Pancoast, Rob Brodie, and Grammy winner Pat Robinson reunited to play at the Rick Toy Memorial comcert in November 2023. Mark and Pat are still writing together, and Roy Fisher and Rob Brodie are chomping at the bit. But for now, all remains quiet on the Eastern Front.
Mark started writing songs at an early age and has enjoyed success at every stop along the way. From his early days on the Philly scene, to his decades in NYC, and a “residency” in Nashville, he’s been a band member, solo artist, songwriter, producer, filmmaker and professional actor. He cowrote the love ballad for the hit USA Films release “Never Again” starring Jeffrey Tambor and Jill Clayburgh.
Mark was a finalist for 2020 Songwriter of the Year by 91.7 FM Hometown Heroes
